Old clothes: Let it go, let it go … (Electrolux Save and Share Blog Series)

Save & Share Blog Series

It’s the time again to give you some family tips to save money and time through the Electrolux Save and Share Blog Series. With the support of the helpful Electrolux endorsers – Cheska Garcia – Kramer, Chef Bruce Lim, Chef Rosebud Benitez and Mommy Mundo’s Janice Villanueva, and with the secrets they are spilling out, we hope this could help you out make your daily life easier.

It has been said that clothes are extensions of ourselves and that a lot of our favorite pieces carry with it a lot of great memories. There are even clothes that are being pass from generation to generations, could be from the eldest son down to the youngest or from your grandfathers down to yourself. This is one of the reasons why some people find it hard to let go of clothes. Some of my friends have this kind of connections to their closet, that even thou there are clothes that wouldn’t fit them anymore, they are keeping it because of its sentimental value. Thou donating clothes to charity has been in their works, sometimes choosing what to donate could took them months or even a year because they value the apparel so much.

So with that, I got a chance to asked two of the Electrolux endorsers, Chef Bruce Lim and Chef Rosebud Benitez on what are their thoughts about it? I’ve also asked them if did it ever happended to them that they donated something very special, and how did they feel about it?

Chef Bruce says Yes this is very true. I had a black hoody that had the SF Giants logo on it. My wife gave it away cuz she hated it… and it felt like a part of me died. I can’t order it again because they discontinued it. I had it for almost 12 years…”

Chef Rosebud on the other hand stresses the importance of donating and the benefit it could give to the people it could help. “I’m pretty sentimental with all my belongings so I can relate to how most people can’t let go of their old clothes and would rather they keep it for themselves. But over the years, I’ve learned how to let go of material possessions already. Like when I first started donating my clothes, I just realized that there are so many people out there who can actually put my old kept clothes to good use. I don’t need them anymore anyways so instead of it rotting away, I chose to give it away to those who are in need.”
