Kabayan Hotel Redesigns and Reopens to Honor Filipinos’ Strides Towards Economic Independence

The 22 years since Kabayan Hotel first welcomed guests have been spent establishing a sterling reputation for quality at reasonable prices. Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and balikbayans flocked to the hotel because of its convenient location along EDSA-Pasay, close proximity to domestic and international airports, transportation hubs, government buildings, and employment agencies, and its signature brand of warm Filipino hospitality at affordable rates.

Kabayan Hotel has introduced many firsts to the hospitality industry over the years, including dormitory-style rooms and suites, pad rooms for budget travelers and sailors, and kapsule rooms inspired by Japan.

In 2023, it opened the Kabayan Suites, a luxurious new accommodation type located on the penthouse level of its newest building. Each of the Kabayan Suites provides opulent living quarters, a beautifully appointed bathroom, and a soothing resort atmosphere ideal for family staycations. Moreover, all of this is provided to visitors at a very reasonable cost. Guests looking for a luxurious stay in the middle of the action can book one of the building’s brand new Pad or Mabuhay Suites.

The new Kabayan Hotel was designed to highlight Filipino art and architecture. A fancy revolving glass door ushers visitors into the roomy lobby. The lobby’s walls are adorned with panels of banaca sulihiya that were made by hand. The reception desk is made of polished marble and natural hardwood, and the elevators are decorated with quaint pia embroidery and mother-of-pearl inlays.

The Salo restaurant features traditional Filipino cuisine at its finest, with menu staples like crispy pata, kare-kare, and beef mechado. Comfort food like arroz caldo, ginataang mais, and garlic sotanghon, as well as popular street food like fishballs, kikiam, and kakanin (rice cakes), are featured at the daily merienda buffets, which are available from 2 to 5 p.m. for just P249 per person.

At the center of all this remains the hotel’s continued commitment to provide genuine, guest-centered Pinoy hospitality.

“At Kabayan hotel, we welcome our guests much like we welcome visitors at home.  We want to make their stay as convenient for them as possible,”

says General Manager Raymund Aves.

Friendly staff are on hand to help them with their needs, and there are also services that are tailor-fit for OFW kababayans. One of these is an OFW Help Desk than can refer their government agency-related inquiries or assist them with processing and printing their documents on-site. There are even weighing scales available at their convenient luggage packing area located at the lobby.

“We have noticed our guests struggling to pack their belongings before leaving for the airport, and we want to be able to help them start their journey with less worries”,

Aves adds.
