Putting into action the adage of the “love your neighbor, as you love yourself”, the Embassy of Israel continued to extended its cooperation for the Filipino people as it held a post relief donation mission for various barangays hit by tropical storm “Maring” – in Marilao, Bulacan last Wednesday, 02 October along with the Shalom Club of the Philippines.

Residents of Marilao welcomed members of the Embassy led by Deputy Chief of Mission, Adam Levene.

As Filipinos are well-known for their hospitality, Israelis are also well-known for their spirit of giving – which binds the two peoples together as part of the Judeo-Christian faith.

Marilao, led by its mayor Hon. Juanito “Tito” H. Santiago also joined the Embassy in distributing many bags of goods to affected barangays. These goods included cleaning materials, toiletries and many more.

The Shalom Club, led by its chairman Ms. Zeny Ubaldo, also joined in the efforts of the Embassy staff and Mayor Santiago’s team.

Israel has taken part in many relief operations around the world, since its establishment. In the Philippines, Israel sent medical teams and donated relief goods during typhoon Ondoy (2009) and rains brought by “Habagat” (2012), respectively.

The Shalom Club of the Philippines is the group of MASHAV alumni scholars who conducts effective voluntary projects for Filipino communities. It is currently headed by Ms. Zeny Ubaldo.

MASHAV, Israel’s Agency for International Cooperation, conducts training programs which has welcomed participants from all around the world. Filipino scholars and professionals are regular participants in MASHAV courses in Israel.
