Thank you 2016 and Level up 2017! #PiattosTime

A few weeks before the end of the year, while I was sitting next to my desk, finishing a pack of Piattos. A moment of silence came in bringing me memories of the past. It was my free time so I decided to sit back and relax while I look back at the year 2016.

Going Solo at Blue Water Sumilon Island Resort, Cebu

Half an hour away from Aguinid Falls, we arrived a few minutes before the next boat leaves the main Island, Blue Water Sumilon Island Resort is a 24-hectare coral island, located on the southern eastern tip of Cebu and is in close proximity to Dumaguete. It is the first marine protected area in the Philippines and was made a fish sanctuary in 1974 under the guidance of Suliman University Marine Reserve. I heard about it from friends who lives in Cebu and also read some blogs about their trip to Sumilon Island making me want to really include this in my lists. A lot of tourist (mostly foreign) visits at the place for a relaxing overnight stay, but for the backpackers like me, a whole day exploration I think would be enough.

After having breakfast, I was introduced to Kuya Rey, a former Manilenio who lives in Q.C. before but later decided to stay in Oslob for his family. He will be my tour guide and service for the whole day.

Cebu South Sidetrip: Tumalog Falls

Tumalog falls isn’t easy to go to for before reaching the place you would need to do a long hilly trek. The trek is as exciting as reaching the falls. Good thing the road going there was already cemented. Kuya Rey (our Habal-habal driver) did a great help in bringing us there. The habal-habal ride from the Whale Shark station took us 10-15 minutes only. Then trek for 20-30 minutes depending on your pace, of course.
