From her early beginnings sketching women’s silhouettes at the age of 8 to her formal training in Fine Arts at the University of Sto. Tomas and further studies in the United States, Guanco’s artistic journey has been marked by a deep fascination with the female form. Under the guidance of the late Salvacion Lim Higgins, Guanco honed her creative vision and refined her skills, laying the foundation for her distinctive artistic voice.

After years of exploring various artistic mediums alongside her career in media and PR, Guanco fully embraced her calling as an artist in 2016. Her debut solo show, “Boho Chic,” fused fashion illustration with human anatomy, followed by the uplifting “virtual” exhibit, “Festival,” created in response to the emotional toll of the pandemic.

Now, in 2024, Guanco returns triumphantly with “Her World,” a collection described as “aggressive and bolder,” symbolizing her liberation from creative constraints. With 26 paintings chronicling her artistic evolution, Guanco showcases newfound confidence, freedom, and power in her work.

While Guanco’s signature elements – bright colors, intricate designs, and thoughtful details – remain prominent, her experimental use of mediums such as oil pastel, watercolor, acrylic, brush pens, and Sharpie pens reflects her evolving style. Her works exude a sense of depth and mystery, celebrating the multifaceted nature of womanhood.

“Women empowerment has always been a recurring theme in my exhibits,” Guanco shares. “Women convey power while retaining their femininity and inner strength. They are more than their roles – they are complex, multifaceted beings.”

“Her World” will be unveiled at Gateway Gallery Studio in Araneta City on March 16, 2024, coinciding with Women’s month. Guanco’s exhibition continues to celebrate the empowerment and resilience of women, inviting viewers to explore the beauty and complexity of “Her World.”
