Our pick is at Centara Watergate Pavillon Hotel. Located within the shopping district in the Pratanum area, Centara Watergate Hotel is just a few walks away from famous shopping centers, tourist spots, and markets. The hotel itself got a shopping center of its own.
This trendy hotel has a spa, bright, comfy rooms, a family suite, a gym, and even a rooftop bar with a view of central Bangkok.
If you are on business travel, work anywhere within the hotel with their free WiFi. Centara Watergate Pavillion Hotel Bangkok is also an SHA (Amazing Thailand Safety & Health Administration) Extra Plus Certified, a certification for businesses that meet the basic hygiene and health safety protocols.
Meeting facilities, room service, and currency exchange are also available at the hotel.
Location is the Key!
The hotel offers assistance with shuttle service arrangements or transfer service to or from the airport. But we decided to rent a car instead to pick us up upon arrival. Kuya Fernando is a school teacher who has lived in Bangkok for a few years and was our service. He was referred to us by a friend who also works in Bangkok. We paid 450 Baht for the service ride, around Php 730.
We arrived late at around 9 pm at Don Mueng Airport (DMK). From DMK, arriving at the hotel took us about 45 minutes.
It could have been cheaper if we had taken the Airport trains that can bring us directly to Ratchaprapop station, which is just 400 meters from the hotel. If you are traveling light, I suggest you take it.
Centara Watergate Pavillion Hotel Bangkok is just a 5-minute walk to Platinum Fashion Mall and a 7-minute to Central World Shopping Complex. MBK Shopping Center is a 10-minute ride away. It is a 30-minute drive from Suvarnabhumi International Airport. Other tourist spots around the area includes;

Generous Spaced Room Options
Generally, you can check in at 3:00 pm onwards, and check-out time would be the standard noon. Cancellations for a hotel room reservation must be received before 6:00 pm before the expected day of arrival. We arrived late, around 9:30 pm. The reception area is located on the 9th floor, and checking in was quick and easy. I also deposited 2,000 baht for insurance purposes, which can be canceled upon check-out.
If you need to do an early check-in or late check-out, just like we did, you can request it, but it will still depend on the capacity of the guests on that day. If the flight is later, you can leave your bag at the concierge for pick up later.
We got a Deluxe City View costing 4242 PHP++/Night, where you can choose either king-size or twin beds. If you were traveling with family and opted to pick a deluxe room, requesting an extra bed or sofa bed is possible with additional charges. The complimentary stay applies for children less than 12 years of age sharing parents’ room and bedding (up to maximum of two children, depending on room type).
Families can also be accommodated in connecting rooms and suites – contacting the hotel directly to make the best arrangements is advice.

If you want a little upgrade for the room, especially if you are on a business trip and want extra space for work, you may choose a Deluxe Suite City View, which is a much bigger space of around 39 sqm in total. It includes an extra sofa bed, a working table, a shower, and a bathtub.
Traveling with family, you may pick a 34 square meter Deluxe Family Residence that can accommodate two adults and two children or a 39 square meter Premium Family Residence which is more spacious and perfect for younger kids. Both rooms got a double deck with a sliding door separating the primary bedroom.
International and Thai Cuisine
The hotel features three dining options, Café 9 serves International and Thai cuisine, Infuze, located in the lobby, offers snacks and refreshments, while the Walk at the Rooftop provides a unique city view and nightlife experience.
I could only experience Café 9 for the hotel’s buffet breakfast. Buffet choices were reasonable, with options for vegetarian, pork, and non-pork eaters. It also got several pieces of bread available that change day to day. The buffet also got Indian cuisine dedicated to this market.
Final Verdict
Centara Watergate Pavillion Hotel Bangkok got a high score of 4.4/5 via Google Maps, which means most of the guests enjoyed their stay. Google Maps also recommends staying at this hotel if you bring the family or travel solo.
I would recommend this hotel if you plan to shop in Bangkok, Thailand; aside from its accessibility to all kinds of public transportation, markets, and mid-range malls also surround it. Though the main streets get bustling, walking to some destinations is possible. With that in mind, you’ll save a little on transportation costs.
The ambiance outside the hotel isn’t that pleasing, so do not expect much if you are aiming for an ambiance. But I love the spacious accommodation, and the staff is very prompt to our requests. They can also speak and understand English, so you do not have to worry about using a translator. Experiencing the famous Thai massage is also possible within the hotel, but if you feel that the price is too much, there are tons of options you can try just around the corner. Also, Filipinos love swimming but do not expect to do it here, for the hotel can only offer a pond where you can relax and enjoy the afternoon.
