You might have seen this place being featured by different bloggers and vloggers in the society or even being published and or visited by known personality, showing us a wide range of affordable clothes and items. To tell you honestly, Taytay Tiangge Market (for what I think of) becomes one of the most sought after places in Taytay, Rizal.
This actually boosted my curiosity and urges me to personally visit the place. And the right opportunity just came in that I was able to visit Taytay Tiangge on a holiday and tagged some friends to join.
A known place for thrift buys, I brought just enough money, Php 2,000 to be exact, and expected actually a lot from the place.

Taytay is dubbed as the Garments Capital of the Philippines, if you are into looking for fabrics this is the right place. And being a place where fabrics are manufactured and sold, comes the by-products of it – clothes. Taytay Tiangge is located in Club Manila East compound, that occupies a big area along Rizal and Rodriguez Avenue. Taytay Tiangge is just beside the New Taytay Public Market.
I visited the place during the holiday and we expected that there would be tons of people coming in the area. Just letting you know, Taytay Tiangge is not open daily, it is usually closed during Wednesdays but there are some stores that are operating still during this day.
Let’s begin by trying to commute going there. Here is a short description on how to go to Taytay Tiangge in Rizal.
How to go to Taytay Tiangge in different ways:
- From Robinsons Galleria – ride the Bus going to Taytay, these are either G-Liner or RRCG.
- Coming from EDSA Crossing – go to Starmall Terminal and look for the UV and jeep terminal, ride the ones going to Taytay
- From Megamall – You may take the Antipolo UV express. Go down at Tikling and take the jeepneys going to Taytay Palengke or Binangonan.
- From Quiapo / SM Sta. Mesa – take the Bus going to Taytay – G Liner / RRCG
- From Cubao – take the jeep going to Angono, Binangonan (located at SM Cubao Side or Ali Mall terminal)

When we visited, we decided to bring a car. But it was slightly a wrong move after learning that parking space was a bit scarce in the area. So what we did was to park our vehicle in SM Taytay and ride a trike (Php 40) going to Taytay Tiangge. Here are some other tips and things you need to know when visiting Taytay Tiangge.
Tips and Things you need to Know About Taytay Tiangge
- Bring Eco bag, you might and might not buy a number of clothes so better be prepared for it
- The place was hot. So wear something light, bring a water to hydrate and oh towels and hanky to pat those sweat away
- Most stores sell the same item so better to go around first, compare, before purchasing.
- Bring cash, remember it’s a bazaar, tenants there do not accept credit cards or money transfer.
- Be sure to be there before 4pm to make the most of your shopping. But of course the earlier the better.
- Wednesday is a bad choice to visit the place, for most of it are close.
- Best day to go is Monday and Thursday, it was said that it is the time where new arrivals and new stocks arrive.
- The place is very clean and the government is really strict in implementing rules like littering. Please comply to all the rules which are posted in billboard all over the place.
- Do not forget to haggle. My tip in haggling is to go a little lower to the price you wanted to target. For example, the original price is 400 and you want to buy it for 300, go for Php 250, and slowly go up as you haggle. If your price weren’t met do the ‘go away’ action – which is the act of turning away and letting the owner knows that the other stores are much cheaper (of course in a subtle way, always be nice to people even in haggling). Try it, it may work.
- Stores usually have a single and wholesale price, which is much cheaper. You can do a wholesale by buying 3 items and up. Some stores even let you pick different items of the same price.
My Thoughts and Personal Experience
After watching a lot of vloggers doing their shopping hauls and even reading blogs about their personal experience about Taytay Tiangge, It leaves a high expectations on my end. I certainly believe that after visiting Taytay Tiangge, I could be able to go home with bags of clothes both for my self and my family. It even occur to my mind that there might be a chance I could resell some if there are some unique items.
But honestly speaking, I was a bit disappointed. The overall experience was meh. I do not know if its because of the feeling that almost all stores are the same that it struck me that there are nothing much to see. That it made me realize that I had more fun shopping in Divisoria or looking for items in Baclaran.
Add to that, there are I think 10 or 20% mens clothing compare to 80% females, hence there aren’t really much for guys to explore. For men, there are shops that sells shirts, polo shirts and button downs. One particular shop, also sells designer pants, which is actually nice. Though not really something to go gaga with. My haul actually just got 3 basic shirts for the price of Php 100 each (wholesale), button down for Php 200 each and an Indonesian inspired shirt I got for Php 350.
The female market got more items to choose from. I saw lingerie, shirts, skirts, and even cocktail dresses for an affordable price. Some stores even sell shirts for Php 95. But even though there are choices, jumping from one store to another, you’ll find almost same pieces. I guess that is the reason why my eyes felt a bit bored seeing same things in different places. It lacks variety. Some clothes’ fabric are also thin and poorly made.
A few more rants; it is hot, the traffic is horrible, and parking is very difficult.
One good point that I could say is that the government is very firm in keeping the peace and order in the place. The lanes are spacious and really clean. There are also food stalls located in the center, if ever you felt hungry while shopping. And if you are into bargaining, this is the right place for you.
A friend says that if you are also looking for affordable fabrics and cloth, Taytay is best place to visit. And it is true!
At the end, It actually falls down on your taste, if you are into the not so quality items for a very affordable price, you will definitely enjoy shopping in this place. You can even buy gifts for your family and friends as early as today. There are some good finds within the area but I can say it is really imperceptible.
But if you are into finding for a more quality made products without wasting your time to travel to Taytay, probably go and visit another place.
