Plantronics keeps on innovating and expanding its Backbeat family. Giving us the best wireless earphones and best headphones in the market that are suited for different kinds of lifestyle. Just recently, I was able to get my hands on one of there products – Plantronics Backbeat Fit 3100.
Created to take my outdoor workouts on to the next level, I was able to try it for the very first time and it does give me the exciting new feel on listening to music while working out.

Unboxing
I was able to get my hands on Plantronics Backbeat Fit 3100 a few weeks ago and out of excitement I instantly open and look what’s in the box. The box actually already got the information on what you would be expecting when open it. The contents includes the following;
- Left earbud
- Right Earbud
- Charging Case
- USB Charge cable
- User Instruction
Basic specification about the unit can be seen written in box which is actually helpful specially if it would be your first time to discover it.
The box was pretty sturdy but of course most specially the case of the earbuds. I was actually surprise to see its protective case and felt that it really does the job – to protect our precious earbuds. Opening it, you would instantly see the beautiful and shiny blue green colored buds attached on the charging case. The charge case also got a button and a battery bar located in the middle.
Using the case charger actually can give 10 hours additional listening time. And by charging it for only 15 minutes, it can already give you an hour of of listen time.

Plantronics Backbeat Fit 3100 is basically created for people who have a really active lifestyle. It has this new technology called Always Aware™ eartips which gives users a safer way to do workouts outside. I find it really helpful specially for someone living in the city would really have this lifestyle on working outs on rugged trails or city streets.
Always Aware™ eartips actually is design to not fully block the ear canal, letting in ambient sound and allowing you to simultaneously listen to music and hear your surroundings. One would definitely experience the natural mid-tones, crisp highs, and a more comfortable fit that never feels too snug, all while remaining aware of the world around you, for safer training in any environment.

My first Impression (and Second)
I actually like the idea of its new technology called the Always Aware eartips. Being a person who is always on the go, you’ll probably would see me walking in the street and going to one place to another, and having this kind of technology actually is plus on my end. You don’t want to be seeing a headlines with me on it being bump by a car right?
Anyway, I was able to try it for the very first try and was really excited on what Plantronics Backbeat Fit 3100 can give me. With my excitement I jump on the unit without even reading the manual. I was having a difficult at first knowing the hidden buttons and on how it works. But eventually after trying it out I was finally able to go with it.
The unit snuck perfectly on to my earlobes, though I can actually feel that it wasn’t really fully intact , like the feeling there was a loose space. I guess that is how the Always Aware ear tips works. It is actually both positive and a bit downfall for me on the same time. There are some instances that I would be increasing the volume to the max to fully enjoy it and tone it lower if I would want to talk to or hear someone (or sometimes take off the earbuds fully).
In terms of the quality, I have no doubt that Plantronics Backbeat Fit 3100 give that full music experience. Actually this was my second Plantronics unit, the first one was the Backbeat Fit 500.
There is actually nothing new with the Battery Charging Case, but what I really love about it is its very sturdy design, after all its a case right? With the case fully charge, it can actually give 10 hours additional listening time! Amazing!
To better assist and show us the full capability of our Backbeat headset, Plantronics also created a downloadable app called the Backbeat app. The My Tap feature offers command customization for a personalized workout experience. With one or two taps and no break in the action, you can start a stopwatch, set a timer or select your favorite playlist directly from your earbuds. This is actually pretty cool!
Anyway, one of the major worry I experience with the wireless earphone was the burning sensation at the back of my earlobes after using it for more than an hour (or two). I do not know if this is due to the fitting or my ears are just too unique for this unit. I tried using it on another time for a longer hours and it happens again. Though the beauty of it and the efficiency of the unit didn’t hold me back in using it again and again.
Anyway, the rubber eartips isn’t interchangeable hence, it is a one size fits all.
