Prevent Splurging with Paymaya + Budgeting Tips

Prevent Splurging using Paymaya and make shopping easier and worry free!

Ber Months means shopping spree and discounts everywhere! Fun and tempting but very prone to splurging. You don’t like to spend so much money that you’ll be sorry you have already used a portion you allocated for more important things.

Part of growing up is having the right skills in budgeting. What I usually do to prevent splurging is to set a cap in everything. A portion of my income should go first to bills, house rent, a portion to family, church duties and  some part of it goes to “rewards“. Let’s say Php 2,000 per month. The allocated reward money is what I can used for things that I wanted to purchased (that is not included as “Needs“) whether it be gadgets, food or clothes. If the amount I wanted to buy is a bit higher than my allocated budget, I usually let months to pass for my budget to accumulate.

And guess what you can use Paymaya in preventing splurging, how? You’ll find out in a bit.

PayMaya is a free app that gives you a virtual Visa Card that you can use to shop online, book flights, and more, even without a credit card. Just download the app, load up, and shop!

You can also get a PayMaya physical card (which I actually got), which you can use for purchases at stores here and abroad.

So how would you prevent Splurging? What I suggest is to put in enough fund on your PayMaya, bring enough money for your fare and leave all your credit cards at home. With that you will be force not spend more than your allocated cap placed at PayMaya.

I recently used Paymaya at a bazaar I visited in Blue Leaf Events Pavilion, Taguig City. It was called Clic! Fair and I was able to buy a leather cover case for my Fuji Film X-T10 using my PayMaya card. The item I bought was priced at Php 1,700, fittingly suited for my monthly budget of Php 2,000. Then I allocated the remaining Php 300 for my snacks on that day.

Aside from attending PayMaya hosted Bazaar, you can use the physical card at establishments here and abroad, wherever Visa is accepted. You can also use the app at online stores or websites that accept credit cards or debit cards.

Whether your using Smart, Globe, TNT, Sun or even Abs-Cbn mobile, you can get a PayMaya as long as you got a Philippine Mobile number that you can register.
