UNTV 37 introduces drone technology in Philippine News Reporting, Rescue and Public Services

UNTV 37, your public service channel, the first TV station in the Philippines to use drone technology in the field of news casting and in the future is gearing towards of using it to do rescue and other public services.

It was first shown over the national television used to show Tacloban’s aftermath and was also use to cover the recent procession of the Nazarene in Manila. Currently UNTV is using the drone technology daily for traffic updates shown in different UNTV programs.

According to Kuya Daniel Razon, CEO of UNTV, the ultimate goal is for this drones is to be used as well in rescue operation, thus they are eager to acquire water drones in the future as well as underwater drones that can be use to look for search oeperations under the water.

Drone or also known as an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), is an aircraft without a human pilot on board. It’s a cost effective way to be use in coverages compared to renting helicopters. The drone currently used by UNTV (DJI Phnatom) can record both pictures and videos and can fly up to 900 feet.
