Vietnamese cuisine is slowly penetrating the restaurant scene here in the country. With the many brands coming out and breaking their way to introduce to the Filipino palate what Vietnamese can offer on our table.

Comes this new yet notable vietnamese restaurant found in Glorietta 5.

I was invited to dine with fellow bloggers at La Petite Camille Vietnamese Restaurant. La Petite Camille’s name is specifically a French phrase for “little girl, Camille” which reflects the French culinary influence of Vietnamese cuisine as Vietnam was actually a French protectorate for many years prior to its independence.

The restaurant opened last December 17, 2012, and is made up of the same group that has brought in concepts such as Super Bowl of China and Yomenya Goemon Japanese Spaghetti house in partnership with Mama Fong, owner of La Petite Camille in Millbrae, California.

What’s good about this restaurant is that even though they don’t have an authentic vietnamese chef in the kitchen, Mama Fong, which is the founder of La Petite Camille, personally trained local kitchen staff for them to apply the authentic taste of Vietnamese cuisine.

Aside from that, Mama Fong’s own personal family recipes are use for the marination of the different dishes as well as the preparation of the variety of sauces, which really became its greatest distinction compared to other vietnamese restaurant in the country.

And for those who are really looking for the authentic taste, specially for people who have already visited Vietnam, good to try La Petite for no additional tweaking has been done to the recipe to ensure that Filipinos will enjoy the authentic Vietnamese cuisine as it is meant to be enjoyed.

And now is the time to taste the food one by one, At first, I actually felt that vietnamese cuisine is somehow the same with those of the Thai’s. I asked Mr. Roberto Vallar, the Marketing Manager, and explained to me that some of the dishes ingredients are rooted in thailand.

The Vietnamese Iced Coffee was excellent and I love how I they presented the drink, the personalized coffee is a set of brewed coffee with milk, ice and a separate hot water that you could add in the mixture if you felt that the caffeine is too hard for your taste.

Prices are not so high and affordably enough for your pocket and each dish is good for 2-3 persons. Projected average check per person would be around Php 400 to Php 500 depending on the items ordered.

And Vegetarians can actually enjoy the place because La Petite Camille’s menu actually has a Vegetables section with six (6) different varieties to choose from. Aside from that, they also have some appetizers and salads that have no meat.

It was very great to have this kind of restaurant that gives a new choice for filipinos especially those who dine in G5.
