Movie Flick: The Battle Royale (2000)

This year we are planning to visit the land of the rising sun, Japan. I kinda felt excited about it and iv’e always been a fan of anime, culture and other japanese stuff thats why this trip could be a dream come true to me. That is why, in preparation to the much awaited visit I started to read articles and study their culture, listen to japanese podcast and learn the language,  japanese music, as well as watching movies!

Battle Royale

And speaking of movies! Last night i’ve finally had the chance to watch a very famous and I could say an iconic Japanese film called “The Battle Royale” it was a brutal movie about a group of japanese high school students that was randomly picked to play the survival game in a so called new government rule “The Battle Royale”. Battle Royale (the law) was made by the government to eliminate kids with bad attitudes, for the reason that the adults are starting to be afraid of the youth, A class was entered to this game to kill one another and survive. Only one should remain alive at the end of the game. Each of the students were given different weapon to be use in the game.

It was a bit sadistic, and you will see how friends become enemies just to survive. It stars Tatsuya Fujiwara (popular in the movie Deathnote), Aki Maeda, Chiaki Kuriyama (which is popular in her role in Kill bill), Tarô Yamamoto, Kô Shibasaki (popular in the movie One Missed Call), and Masanobu Andô to name a few.

It is classified as R-15.
