What do you usually do to save money? I love traveling but my usual problem is I don’t have enough money to spend for the more expensive trips. What I usually do is to make DIY‘s with friends which I find very economical, but this year I decided to take a step forward and thought maybe I should start travelling miles away from my country. Doing so, will make me need to save more money! Read on and check out my tips.

We might have different ways in saving and reasons why we save up but I know we got some common reasons why, for us to have extra money whether it be for emergency, for keeping or for leisure.

Along the way, i’ve learned that a little patience plus a stash of thriftiness can bring me some extra money.

Here’s how I usually save money for travel;
    1. Coffee Break? – Deciding not to pass by Starbucks or any pricy coffee shop in the morning to have Cappucino or in the evening to get my favourite Java chip would be a great way of shaving some extra bucks. Why not create your own coffee in the morning instead and bring a tumblr with you to work? Buying a separate coffee, creamer and sugar could last for a month and is way cheaper than a Grande.
    2. Walking equals Savings – Instead of taking a cab or Jeepney, I usually walk for short distance travelling most specially if its still early in the morning. A daily expenses of Php 14 pesos fare (to and from riding a jeep) if computed for a month can save up to Php 420 which can already be use to travel to and from Tagaytay
    3. Cook Food instead of buying – If I have time, I usually do my grocery over the weekend and buy food supply for the coming weeks. That includes my ‘ban’ going to work. A kilo of chicken can only cost Php 140 (or more) and can be allocated for your whole week food. Whereas if your going to use that Php 140 in a restaurant that would just be equivalent to a one meal.Well the only drawback here is that you need to allocate time in cooking and offcourse adding some skills to make your dishes delicious and different everyday.
    4. Brand X and Brand Y – Whenever I go to the market, It usually take me  a long time to buy a particular product, specially if I’m on a budget. There are even times that I would go around the whole store first, check on the the prices, then if find it okay, then i’ll go back and start buying. I always make sure to compare brands and buy the cheaper one but will gave the same results just like the expensive ones.
