Unplanned trip to Tagaytay with P200 pocket money (plus a visit at Sky Ranch)

My friends and I always argue about trips that doesn’t push through. We planned for a long time and in just a few weeks before the trip, it will be canceled. I know a lot of my readers have some how experienced the same thing. That’s why, an unplanned trip or activity could be sometimes a bit exciting to do.

This happened January 2014, we were just having lunch when the idea pop in! We got different plans for the day initially, but then again, an unplanned trip is unplanned right?  A dare to visit Tagaytay was placed on top of the table. I was like whoa! Okay!?

I’m good to go but the next thing I was worried about was the fact that I only got 200 pesos in my pocket. Will that be enough for a trip to Tagaytay? I actually don’t have any idea but then again, I guess my friends have enough ‘guns’ to pay for my extra expenses.

On our way, we were like trying to feel if anybody will have that initiative to back out but after paying the fare, I guess we are really heading straight to the unplanned vacation.

Tagaytay is just 2-2 1/2 hour trip from Manila, or even less if you have your own car or if you’re travelling not on the rush hour. Coming from North EDSA, the best way would be via MRT then a bus ride from Pasay City going to Tagaytay. The fare from Pasay to Tagaytay (Mendez Crossing) costs Php 87 + the MRT ride costing Php 15 (bef0re) that’s already a slash of Php 103 on my Php 200 pocket money!

The bus was cold and I’m not ready for it, but I didn’t realize that it would be even colder and windier in Tagaytay proper.

Good thing one of my friends have a relative living in the area, we had a chance to take a rest and borrowed sweaters from them (We returned it after a week.) After a few minutes of rest, we decided to visit SkyRanch in Tagaytay.

SkyRanch is a new destination place here in Tagaytay owned and operated by mixed-use development by SM Land. It is where “Tagaytay Eye” or officially known as “Sky Eye” can be found. It is currently the Tallest Ferris Wheel in the country at 63 meters (207 ft.) with 32 gondolas, beating the MOA Eye at 55 meters (180 ft.). I think it is best to ride it on daytime to fully experience the view knowing that Tagaytay City has an elevation of 2,000 ft. above sea level; you’ll be enjoying the highest point at 2,207 ft.! Too bad I didn’t have extra money to try it; I think riding the Sky Eye in the evening would also entail a different experience.

Regular Entrance fee costs P100, but they have an ongoing 50% discount promotion till May 2014.

There are about seven other rides you can check out inside and most of the rides would be suited for kids. Restaurants also lined up at front. After our short “selfie” moments, we decided to walk a few and try Tagaytay’s very own “Bulalo”!

Going back to my money problems on this trip, asking me how did I survive it? The solution, tag along friends who are willing to shoulder an extra! (lol) You might even save that P200 on your pocket.

After the trip, I went home broke, but satisfied and happy to add up a new experience on my journal.
