A day when Erwan Heussaff cooks dinner for me at Red Light

It’s very seldom (or even not usual) to happen that a famous celebrity will cook a full meal for me. It could only happen if that particular celebrity is a very close friend of mine. But a few days ago, a situation like that happen. Erwan Heussaff might not know me in the personal level, but I was lucky enough to be invited over to try his cooking at Red Light.

What did he prepared? Continue reading.

ERWAN HEUSSAFF X RED LIGHT-25

Erwan Heussaff is not a chef, but his passion for cooking (and eating) makes him somewhat one. He said, he consider himself more of a restaurateur rather than a chef, thus owning a number of restaurant including Red Light which is the one I’ve visited recently.

The invitation, well didn’t really came from Erwan himself (feeling close LANG ako) but rather comes from Philips. Philips partnered with Erwan to showcase Philips Appliances’ capabilities and efficiency in the kitchen perfect for yuppies like me.

Red light is a small gastropub located in Felipe street in red district in Makati City. And this is were he’ll be cooking dishes for me (and for 10 more people).

The place was very simple with wooden chairs and tables, a small bar on the side, and indoor bar and a small kitchen. The kitchen was plain and I initially felt that it was  lacking with necessary kitchen appliances. But I was wrong, Erwan manages to make it simple, effective and efficient just by picking the right appliances to use.

The dinner started with Burrata & Greens on Buttered toast, followed by Cold Cord Chowder poached shrimp salad, next was the Chorizo, Romesco Sauce, Grilled Fish Cake, Toasted Quinoa, then Chopped Hangersteak and capping up with Mango & Banana Turon.

Erwan cooked all the food while we watch and talk to him. I actually discovered that Erwan loves mash potato and he considers soup to be his comfort food. For him Japanese cuisine is the most interesting while the Thai’s tops his taste buds.(now girls you know what to cook for him) But what amazes me is on how he manages to serve more than 10 people with 5 different dishes for a very short time. Well he doesn’t need magic, but as I said awhile ago, just the right appliances to use. Erwan uses Philips Airfryer. This air fryer is perfect for small spaces like modern condos with multifunction capabilities.     Built with Philips unique Rapid air Technology, the airfryer makes use of fast circulating superheated air to prepare fried favorites in a quick, easy, and healthy way. Using 80% less oil than conventional cooking methods, it allows you to cook guilt-free treats that even the pickiest dinner guest will enjoy.    Capable of frying, baking, roasting and grilling, the Philips Airfryer is a one-stop solution that can be used to prepare pretty much your entire menu. Party-size servings will not be a problem either, with its 0.8 kg cooking

capacity.

This is truly something I need! But maybe I should learn how to cook first. Maybe Erwan would be too generous to invite me on a one on one cooking session next time. Haha! That would be amazing!

Here’s the last photo for all Erwan’s fans. More Photos here.
