‘The Great Farm Race’ at Gratchi’s Getaway, Tagaytay

Taking one step further to what I can do is always something beneficial for self improvement and growth. Staying focus on your goals and withstanding difficulties gives you that extra push and strength to always say at the end  “I give it a damn good fight!

Well, that is why visiting Gratchi’s Getaway was something I was looking forward to, why? will tell you later on this post.

On our second day at the farm, Gratchi’s Getaway. Everybody wakes up early, had breakfast and prepared for the great challenge of the day.

Gratchi’s Getaway, I must say have some edge over the counterparts. One could be the weather, two is its distance from manila and three is the dynamics and venue itself where the team buildings and recreational challenges are being held.

We headed to the main pavilion to meet our facilitator of the day, Mr. Geoff Nuval.

Bulwagan – a pavilion surrounded by 360 degree views of nature for parties, events, seminars and conferences.

We were group into two, having 3 members each. The orange team, composed of Jeman Villanueva, Cristell Torres and Richard Mamayuc. And the Pink team, with me (Rodel Flordeliz), Rod Magaru and Rey Belen.

After discussing about the challenges, giving a short briefing. Tied up our color sash, now we are ready to rock and roll, get set for “The Great Farm Challenge”.

I love this kind of activities, its a great way to challenge yourself and find out if you’re capable of doing this kind of things.

The whole activity covers almost everything in the farm. We have 9 tasked to finish and 9 stations to visit. The goal, to be the first team to complete all the the tasks.

After handing over the first clue, we go straight to the High Ropes challenge which is a series of 10 hanging obstacles while the Orange team started with the Ostrich Walk.

The Rope challenge is the hardest part of the course. Good thing that we did it first, it started simple and became complicated as it progress.

The next clue brought us to the Unity Walk. The task is a combination of coordination, balance and cooperation while the 3 of us walk in unison using bamboo shoots.

Ball Pass Relay uses bamboo shoots and marbles. The task is to create a bridge that would bring the marble to the first base and transfer it to the pot by creating an alternating bridge without making any of the marble fall.

Farm Animals – The simplest tasked I could say which tests our knowledge of knowing animals in the farm starting with this cute and friendly pot belly pig.

Talon, Takbo, Gulong – an obstacle course for team-building activities with a great view of People’s Park (Palace in the Sky).  This has 11 challenges including the crowd favorite: Mudslide! But will be doing the latter later.

After the very tiring sequence of obstacles, next clue brought us at Waterfall Swimming poolinfinity swimming pool, which has two cascading waterfalls. The tasked: locate the next clue underwater.

Another hard tasked to do is called locally as “Tyakad” or here they called it “Ostrich Walk”. Two metal feet are used to walk down the hilly, rocky road.

Bring out the artist in you and create, draw, paint, design or write to your heart’s content here at Artist’s Nook. We were tasked to hold the brush and create our groups very own flag design and logo. Plus a short cheer to be performed at the end. We named the team R3 that stands for Rod, Rey and Rodel, witty right?!

And yup, we did a good damn fight! We finish the race first, making the other team under the “humiliation” of the Mudslide!

For the fun and experience, even though we won, we decided to try the mudslide. and I must say … it is awesomely fun!
