Soul Food at Heaven & Eggs Restaurant

Heaven” brings to mind golden gates and white clouds, Angels singing overhead.  ヅ

At Heaven & Eggs (H&E), this comes in golden yolks, fluffy egg whites and me, humming while I eat it. Originally, the restaurant’s interiors combines ivory and azure hues – creating an ethereal feel. The sole (get it? “Soul?”) brand go Heaven & Eggs at Glorietta 4 however, has a pop culture angle – Framed Beatles posters flank Warhol-inspired portraits of Madonna. While visually pleasing, I felt a slight disconnect with the restaurant’s theme.

On to the food.

Classic Egg’s Benedict

The “Classic Egg’s Benedict” has a juicy forest ham, poached eggs and asparagus in Hollandaise Sauce atop a thick english muffin. Served with a side of shoestring potatoes, this could actually feed two.

Two Egg Any Style

My friend Ruth, hung from a long walk, choose the Two Eggs Any Style (Php 325). It has two slices of sausage, bacon strips, fries, bread and a choice of Eggs. She raved about how good the bacon was … something she regretted saying as the rest of us dug our forks into her meal (with permission, of course 🙂.

Steak and Egg

Earth and Reg, currently on a Paleo Diet, had the Steak and Eggs (Php 998). Tender 8 oz USDA rib-eye steak with browned potato hash and buttered corn drizzled in gravy – enough for any carnivore.

Pinoy  Big Breakfast

A fellow blogger, Kumagcow, had breakfast for dinner, ordering the Pinoy Big Breakfastserve with tapa, tocino, longanisa, rice and eggs. He mentions the tapa is well-marinated, the portion size, ample.

Look at that Bacon!!!

Sharing is caring and the dishes at Heaven & Eggs are perfect for this. Big eaters can choose from an add-on menu where you can order Two Eggs in Any Style (Php 45), Breakfast Sausage (Php 85), Crispy Bacon Strips (Php 75),  French Fries (Php 75), or Bread Toast (Php 40). For lighter eaters, healthier options are available.

Classic Caesar Salad (Php 335)

Sometimes it’s good to have a little something sinful. H&E’s desserts indulge the palate right up to the soul (I’ll make up for it later hehehe).

Apple Cinnamon Pancake (Php 185) and Tottie Fruity Waffles (Php 235). Among the two, I would go for the Cinanamon Pancake.

It’s too bad H&E only has one branch left, but fret not. Their management tells Me they’re planning expansions. A good thing! Manila deserves a little bit more heaven. 🙂
