The Power of Just Showing Up

Hey ho! ✪ I had a very busy thursday, 2 events, one voice filing and one VTR  in row. It was something new to me, having too many activities in a day that is why I was very excited for this day to happen. It was also nice to meet again my fellow Creativeworx batch mates that I have been with all saturdays last summer. We had a scheduled Voice filing in one of the well known production house here in Manila, Philippines. This is a chance for us to prove ourselves and apply what we have learned from our professors last summer.

Fluid Post

Fluid post is a one-stop post production facility run by expert and seasoned personnel. They are currently looking for new and fresh voice talents they could use for their future projects. Fluid post is known for some of the works like happee toothpastes, Selecta Cornetto, Shakeys Chicken n’ Mojos, Cafe Puro, Downy Mystique and a lot more.

With my batch mates at Creative Voices (Future Voices of Media! Lol!) Jordan, Marv and JC with Smooth holding the camera.

I was actually hesitant at first knowing myself and feeling that my voice quality and talent are a bit limited to just a few variations compare to others, adding to that is my low self esteem and intimidation to other people. But just like the quotation that i’ve read recently help me really to push myself to do it,

80 percent of success is just showing up” – Woody Allen

There are no harm from trying right, so whatever happens, at least you have proved yourself that you did something to achieve one. Which is a good start, as i can say. you’ll never really know what you can do unless you try, and for you to know that could start by  simply showing up.

So even i’m a bit late, i push myself to be there at least. I came and found my friends already finish signing up the form. I find a lot of familiar faces mostly students under Creative Voices in different batches. I chatted and wait for my que. The organizer told us that they will start doing the girls first, to consume my time rightfully, I decided to walk my way to my other agency who’s into supplying models for different commercials, Modelshop. It was actually just a few streets near Fluid post. After a year of waiting I could finally accept works related to modelling specially now that I have my braces off. So it was just a perfect timing. What we did after signing some few documents was a short VTR stating some personal information, an acting stint and a photo shoot afterwards.

After my VTR, I hurriedly go back at Fluid post production after receiving a text from my colleague that my name was already called. I was queued after arriving at the place, the people was nice and very accommodative. Inside the booth I was assisted by the Audio Engineer and asked me to do 4 different scripts. Two are in english and the other two is in Tagalog. Two of the scripts should be delivered in narrative format like an announcer and the other two are to be delivered in promotional format.  I was told that my voice sounded like a disc jockey. I think that was a compliment, which is great, and actually boosted me more to do it.

It was a wonderful experience, that I have felt great after doing the filing. It was a great day knowing that this day could start and give me something new, a new experience to ponder, that could result into something great that started up just by showing up. ヅ
