Wishcovery is an Online Singing Competition that will come to the digital space this September 2017
I could probably be singing at the center stage right now or maybe you could hear my song over and over again at the most famous radio station. I could also be performing on a noontime TV program or probably promoting my upcoming Broadway show . . . But it isn’t how my life had happened.
It has been my long time dream to sing and perform in front of a crowd, but I wasn’t been blessed with a good singing voice. I did some lessons a long time ago (Check out my post Museo Music Studio) but I think that wasn’t enough for me to be able to attain my dream. I guess there are still a lot of things to work on and honing the skill would take too much of my time. But luckily I was able to land an opportunity to still be in the music industry and attain a career as a radio jock for Wish 107.5, I was called ‘Flynn Ryder’ and this once in a lifetime chance widens up my horizon as a public personality. Doing it I guess was the nearest I could be into singing.
But that wasn’t the case for the 20 individual I met just recently. As young as 18 years old, these individuals have already found a place in the music scene and that is by being part of the newest online singing competition called Wishcovery!
Wishcovery, a WISH 107.5 program, aims to discover great Filipino Singing Talents who can potentially break the global music arena. The battle begins on the digital space starting this September 2017 and is expected to gain more followings in the coming months. As we all know, Wish 107.5, your gateway to the world has supported OPM since the start of its operation 3 years ago. With Wishcovery, Wish is taking this advocacy one notch higher.
It wasn’t long time ago when they started looking for singing talents across the country. Being a former jock of this awesome radio station (read: 1st Wish Music Awards), I was supposedly going to host one of the mall audition before but unfortunately declined because of a prior commitment. But to what I’ve heard, thousands tryout in various on-ground auditions held in many different locations. Alongside with these auditions, Wish also initiated an on-line search where equal number of submissions was received. After full 3 months of search, 20 singers were carefully selected to move on to the “Live Competition” and they are called The Wishful 20.
I bet the Reactors (judges) had a hard time trimming thousands to only 20 participants. But I believe they would do the best to be able to hail one lucky winner!
Wishcovery is hosted by the Philippines’ Prince of R&B, Kris Lawrence. Along with Kris are esteemed Reactors (judges), singer-songwriter-hit maker Jungee Marcelo, Teacher Annie Quintos of legendary group “The Company” and the King of Philippines’ R&B, Jay-R.

All “Wishful” performances will be held inside the one and only Wish Bus (Read: Wish Bus with DJ Jelly Kiss) . Similar to your favorite Wishclusives performances inside the bus, these performances will be with the same audio and video quality. This competition utilizes ‘power viewing’ on YouTube as part of the criteria for judging. The Season 1 of Wishcovery is dedicated to the Original Pilipino Music (OPM) in which all songs to be interpreted by the Wishfuls are all local songs, true to Wish’s advocacy of bringing Filipino talent and music to the world.
Wishcovery’s Wishful 20
The Wishful 20 was introduced along with the celebration of Wish 107.5 3rd anniversary held at Eastwood City mall. Wishcovery candidates was composed of mostly young talents, coming from Manila, North Luzon all the way to the South of the Philippines.
I am actually super excited to hear them perform live. I guess if I would be the one, judging the competition, I would probably give a highest point to someone who got that ‘it’ factor. Somebody that has that appeal and can bring engagement with the crowd. Of course that is aside from having a great voice, which they all already got. But the whole process of doing it would definitely give me a headache. Good thing that isn’t my job. Our job, I guess is to be one of the many wishers who will support and help the reactors determine the grand winner by casting our votes and supporting our favorite “Wishful.’ Here are the final list of ‘The Wishful 20’;
