AFP Cavaliers hailed as the champion in “UNTV Cup” Season 2 during its Championship night as it battled against second placer, PNP Responders, with the score of 74 – 73. The AFP Educational Benefit System Office is the top beneficiary for the season receiving the amount of P1.5 million.
The closed-game fight between the PNP Responders against AFP Cavaliers is the one of the most anticipated fights in the Season 2 of UNTV Cup, which continued up to the Best of 3 games that happened on the 8th June on Smart Araneta Coliseum.
PNP Responders had proved their superb offense and defense as the AFP Cavaliers answered their challenge with a tied 1-1 score and a possible sweep of the championship.
Cavalier and Responders first battled inside the court in Ynares Sports Arena wherein the Responders had proven their stamina and quickness throughout the 4th quarter. This is one of the main factors that the Responders blazed off against the Cavaliers.
The winning streak of the PNP Responders were cut off by the AFP Cavaliers during the recent UNTV Cup Finals on July 1, 2014. The 22-7 game of the two teams is marked as the lowest game score in favor of the Cavaliers.
UNTV Cup started on July 29, 2013 that is composed of the different government offices and agencies. In a press conference attended by the different teams, mediamen, BMPI-UNTV Chairman and CEO Daniel Razon had emphasized that the prize will be handed to the charity of their choice.
