King Katsu is the newest brand offer from the popular makers of Big Better Burgers. King Katsu is serving katsu dishes at a very affordable price.
King Katsu is located at SM North EDSA Sky Garden, at the farthest tunnel walkway (if your coming from SM the Block) just before the restaurant Padis Point. Its actually a small restaurant that could only accommodate a number of 22 persons in total. At my first visit, I was a bit lost finding the area, that is why upon meeting the owner, we suggest politely and explain to them that a tarpaulin positioned at the walkaway could actually be a big help to locate the place easier.
The selling point of the restaurant was really all about the pricing. A very affordable rate, a big serving, plus a good tasting food, you’ll definitely choose it over top rating fast food chains near the area.
Here are some of the food we have tasted.
I actually had a conversation with other bloggers about the brand being compared to the popular Japanese Katsu restaurant called “Yabu“, actually a lot of people and even their clients do compare it. But if you look very closely it is not actually competing with that market. King Katsu has a different sent of target market, they may have seem to have the same menu, but pricing is way too different. And when it comes to the taste and tenderness, I could say that King Katsu is agrreably a catch for your hungry stomach.
Dining over King Katsu, a budget allocation of just around 200 or less is needed. All Their katsu set comes with unlimited rice which is really a good deal for heavy eaters. The restaurant is usually busy at night thats why they have extended their operational hours to target even people who are working inside the mall.
All in all this was a good concept, it maybe not so unique, but has definitely targeted a particular market that are craving for a taste of Katsu that are easy on the budget. I do love the tenderness of the pork and the size serving do really matter specially for heavy eaters. This is a restaurant defintely worth a try and for me who is just living across SM North EDSA, would definitely come back to this place and tag along some friends.
