UNTV channel 37 re-launches its medical show in its new format and title DOCTORS ON TV. Media and other invited guests witness the event held at Bodhi Vegetarian Restaurant located in Banawe, Quezon City last June 20,2012.
The producer of the program, Ms. Cathy Gutierrez describes the reformatted program concept to be an exciting and thrilling that will bring the real medical cases and situation straightly to your doorsteps. The medical reality show delivers inspiring health stories, as well as glimpse of medical professionals working with real patients who are being confronted with real health crises.
The programs main thrust is one of the thrusts of the station, UNTV, which is to provide public service by health awareness and free medical services to indigent patients through Clinic ni Kuya and Kamanggagawa Foundation Inc.
Doctors on TV will be hosted by three courageous faces in health and television industry – Dr. JM Co, Dr. Mike Vergara and Ms. Daisy Reyes, coupled with young blood and promising Dr. Albert Adrales, Nutraceutical expert Ms. Yas Muralla and one of the country’s known medical show hosts, Ms. Lyn Perez as segment hosts.

JUAN MARIA IBARRA O. CO, MD, or Doc JM is an endocrinologist who specializes in the treatment of hormone related disorders. He’s currently elected as the President of Philippine College of Physicians Mandaluyong Chapter, Head Section of Endocrinology at University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center, Inc., Vice President of the Philippine Society for the Study of the Aging Male Foundation, Inc., diplomat and fellows of Philippine College of Physicians and Philippine Society of Endocrinology and Metabolism. Dr. Co is also affiliated in the hospitals of University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center, Inc., Cardinal Santos Medical Center, St. Luke’s Medical Center, Quezon City and The Medical City.
JOSE MIGUEL VERGARA, MD is a licensed physician and certified medical acupuncturist and has spent 20 years of his medical career in the most remote areas in over 60 provinces, serving the poorest of the poor communities in the Philippines promoting wellness and caring for the sick though Integrative Medicine, wherein he uses a combination of modern medicine with centuries old healing arts of acupuncture, herbal and nutraceutical treatment, among others. He also supported the independent study on herbal medicines which resulted in the recognition of the therapeutic properties of ten Philippine herbs internationally. Doc Mikey is currently holding the position of Director of the National Institute of Health, UP-PGH.
MS. DAISY REYES is a former beauty queen turned-politician as Councillor for Pateros District 2. She has been into television since her early age and also done movies with some of the biggest names in Philippine movies; although Daisy is better known as a beauty queen and actress, music is Daisy’s first love and passion. Daisy is a happily married mother of her daughter Gabrielle Lauren.
THE LAUNCH
The event was well attended by Photographers, Guests and Media from different publications. It was a successful event hosted by Atty. Reggie Tongol & Louella De Cordova. Almost all the hosts were present except for Doc. Albert Adrales, which was said to have an earlier commitment prior to that date.
Questions from media pour when the open forum was opened. They were so eager to throw questions not just about the program but as well as questions about health and wellness. The launch actually somehow became an on-spot medical consultation.
Other partners were also been given a chance to discuss their participation in the program specifically establishments like PhilHealth and Chinese General Hospital, The Medical City as well gave their pledge of support to the program.
And to equally partner the success of the launch, Bodhi Vegetarian Restaurant serves us some vegetarian dishes that is not just surprisingly delicious but healthy as well.
Doctors on TV is expected to air on the 3rd Sunday of July 2012.
