Realme 8 5G Review + Comparison Photos with realme 7 & realme 8 Pro

It has been weeks since I got the newest smartphone from realme – the realme 8 5G. I wasn’t really expecting much from the unit but as I used it on a day-to-day basis, I suddenly felt the love for it that I decided to eventually make it as my secondary phone to use.

The mid-range smartphone leads the 5g race as it brings extraordinary performance, speed, and connectivity making it easier for more people to access 5G. And because it’s a phone that can actually give more than it’s price, I wouldn’t be surprised if the unit will eventually be sold out in the market.

Keep on reading and will tell you more about realme 8 5G

Realme 8 5G is available in Supersonic Blue and Superesonic black. What I got is a supersonic blue in 8GB + 128GB. The smartphone is aesthetically pleasing and I love the flare at the back as light bounces on it. It got a sleek and slender finish with a dimension fit to the hand.

And speaking of dimension, one will definitely enjoy watching or playing games using the realme 8 5G. realme 8 5G comes with a 6.5-inch 90Hz Ultra Smooth Display with a 90Hz refresh rate and maximum 180Hz sampling rate. This gives us a wide HD viewing quality on the go.

It is capable of producing 90 frames per second, the 90Hz display has a refresh rate that is 50% higher than the conventional 60Hz display, resulting in a seamless and smooth visual experience with every swipe of the screen. With a 6.5-inch display and an incredible screen-to-body ratio, the realme 8 5G brings us a supreme visual experience. In short, its fast and efficient.

realme 8 5G adopts the Dimensity 700 5G processor, which mixes two highly capable Arm Cortex-A76 cores in its octa-core CPU operating up to a speedy 2.2GHz. Dimensity 700 uses the leading 7nm production processor, which is up to 28% more power-efficient than an equivalent 8nm process, allowing the Dimensity 700 to use its high-performance processors while efficiently consuming power, extending battery life to keep you connected for longer. The Dimensity 700 brings a powerful GPU – Arm Mali-G57 MC2 with 950MHz clock speed and supports 90Hz high refresh rate screen technology.

Dimensity 700 5G processor supports 5G Dual SIM Dual Standby, letting the phone support 5G SIM cards online by 5G network. Advanced Dual Network Acceleration technology also allows for Wi-Fi and 5G network overlay.

I tried using the phone for the game Mobile Legends and I didn’t get any problems with either loading or while playing the game.

The photo and video quality are always on top of my list whenever I’m picking a new phone. Realme 8 5G didn’t fail to deliver. It got a 48MP Nightscape Camera and has different photography functions like Photo, Video, Nightscape, 48M Mode, Pro mode, Panorama, Portrait, Time-lapse, Slow Motion, Super Text, AI Scan, Super Macro. The primary camera can give us 16MP with AI beauty selfie and can also give us panorama, portrait, nightscape, & time-lapse photography.

Video recording supports 1080P/30fps, 720P/30fps and 720P / 120fps slow-motion video recording

Here are some sample photos I took using realme 8 5G.

This is a portrait shot of my beagle named Ishan. In this image, we can notice that realme 7 is quite a bit pale compared to realme 8 Pro which tend to have darker blacks and lighter whites. The realme 8 5G is somehow a mix of both.
This shot was taken in a darker side of the room with a little light coming out of the window. I can say, realme 8 5G handles this image pretty well.
This was supposedly a wide shot comparison, but unfortuantely, realme 8 5G doesnt have a wide angle shot compare to the other two. For me realme 8 Pro is a clear winner in thiss shot.
For the macro shots, I do not know if I took the image perfectly but I can see that same with my portrait image realme 7 gives a lighter shot, a more crispier and saturated shot for realme 8 Pro and a mix of both for realme 8 5G.
Color wise, I think realme 8 5G gives me the nearest to reality colors for this selfie shot. I think the beautification mode was also on, giving that no pores kind of image.

And with smartphones becoming almost part of our day-to-day activities, relying on long battery life would be very important. realme 8 5G is equipped with a 5000mAh massive battery that makes it ideal for day-to-day use. With the 18W type-c quick charge, the 5000mAh battery can be fully charged rapidly.

In addition, realme 8 5G supports Smart 5G Power Saving. As 5G brings more power consumption to the phone, realme introduces this feature to avoid strain on its battery life. Smart 5G technology can intelligently sense the surrounding signal environment and “senselessly” switch between 4G and 5G without switching time, which achieves 30% lower power consumption than phones without the Smart 5G feature.

Super Power Saving Mode uses CPU tuning, backlight adjustment, and other strategies and targeted power-saving measures for specific applications. With this feature, the system power consumption is reduced, and the phone life is extended. Sleep Standby Optimization, App Quick Freeze, and Screen Battery Optimization also optimize the device for power-saving solutions.

Overall, this unit simply delivers more than expected. And definitely, the 5G function is just at the tip of what this smartphone can offer. Its fast, efficient, aesthetically pleasing, and can last for more than a day of usage.
