Crunch time with Fitbit Blaze

Thursday. It was almost past 10 in the morning  when I heard the silent vibrating alarm coming from my fitness watch. My Fitbit Blaze says I slept 6 hours and 38 minutes today, which is kind of a regular thing. Thou I am still hoping that soon enough I could be able to have a nice 8-hour of good night sleep.

Fitbit Blaze Fitness Watch Digital Walker (1 of 28)

I really felt tired already at this early, maybe because I skip breakfast or I am just too lazy and still having this relationship with my bed.  But thinking that the more I tarry the more time wasted, and I do not want to waste time.  So finally I decided to get up, take a bath, change clothes and went straight to the gym. This day is going to be a long day.

Going to the gym will take a me around 20 minutes which includes an P8 ride via Jeepney and a few meters walk. According to my Fitbit’s step counter, I have walked 255 steps for 15 minutes. It was almost a week ago since the last time I went to the gym and I felt the need to restart again my program. But before I gave  you a few more details, let me share you the item I got a few days ago.

Taking off fancy watches in exchange of a fitness Watch – Fitbit Blaze

Fitbit has been a brand that helps one to live healthy, balanced life by tracking your all-day activity, exercise , sleep and weight. I have been wanting to own one ever since and finally a few weeks ago, it came true. Fitbit got different products that specifically designed depending to ones need, my pick was the Fitbit Blaze, for this watch could be so versatile I could just change straps and use it on a daily basis. My favorite among the choices was the leather and metal straps (which I still wanting to own soon). Fitbit Blaze is a smart fitness watch built to help us make the most of our workouts and embrace an active lifestyle. Fitbit Blaze has everything you need to reach your fitness goals, packed into one sleek timepiece. It is definitely a watch that is as stylish as it is smart.

Day time with the Fitbit Blaze

I arrive at the gym exactly 11:10 am. After changing in the locker room I decided to run at the treadmill first. To easily monitor your treadmill activity all you need to do is click on the exercise menu in your Fitbit where you will find different options like Run, Bike, Weights, Treadmill, Elliptical and Workout. Pick the ones you intended to do. Press start and your ready to do your run. At the end do not forget to press stop so you could know your achievement for the day. It was my first time using this options and it is really satisfying to know how user friendly this gadget is.

It was a short 10-minute sprint and I already felt tired. My Fitbit says I run almost a kilometer (.78 meters meh!), did 1, 282 steps and burned 121 calories. That is just equivalent to 5-spoons of sugar burned.

(Tip: It is recommended to wear the band loosely enough that it can move back and forth on your wrist. For better heart rate readings during exercise, it is suggested to wear the band not too tight and higher on your wrist (about 2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone). Loosen it up after exercise)

After doing some stretching, I decided to try the new feature at my Fitbit called Fitstar. Fitstar is like a warm up routine to get you going with your gym activity. Picking Fitstar will give us 3 options;  Warm it up, 7-minute workout, and 10-minute abs. I decided to to try the 7-minute workout, which is composed of 13 exercises to be done in 7-minutes to get our whole body moving.

It was tiring and I really felt the pain as well as the eagerness to do more than what I can do (though at times I felt that I was deceiving my self by falsely doing the routine lol!). Here are the 13 routines you need to finished in 7-minuntes

  • Jumping Jacks
  • Wall Squat Hold
  • Pushups
  • Crunches
  • Step Ups
  • Bodyweight Squats
  • Bench Dips
  • Elbow Plank
  • High Knees
  • Lunges
  • Side Plank Pushups
  • Left Side Plank
  • Right Side Plank

After that very tiring routine, I receive a message inquiry from a client. It was nice that Fitbit Blaze got message notification that I can easily hover whenever I receive a phone message. It is also a good thing specially if your phone is inside your bag or in silent mode. At least you will never missed an important message when wearing the watch.

The message said that he wanted to meet up by 1:30pm in Trinoma. It was alsmot 12nn and I felt the need to rush. I do not have enough time to prepare to continue doing the workout. Crunch time, so I hurriedly do a few more routines, change clothes, walk my way home, took a bath, prep up for the meeting. By the way, Fitbit Blaze is Water-resistant but it is not good to keep a wet band on your skin for long periods of time. If your bands gets wet – like after sweating – rinse and dry it thoroughly before putting it back on your wrist.

 Exercise pa more!

It will only take a few minutes for me to be in Trinoma from the house, so I decide to take time and walk my way to the mall. At least I felt walking and climbing stairs would add up to my daily achievement.

After meeting up with my client, It was the Church visit schedule at 2;30pm. The whole session will last for 2 hours. A perfect time to reflect and include a 2 or 5-minute relaxation. Fitbit Blaze got this “Relax“option where it will guide you on the proper breathing exercise.

I didn’t know what just happened that at that very moment I felt a bit sickly, I guess I was able to fetch some virus along the way making me have colds and runny nose at the moment. I decided to buy this hydrogen water being sold at KVI store in Munoz for only Php 50. Hydrogen water is simply water that undergone several means to attain extar hydrogen gas on it. Ingesting it, hydrogen gas will act as an inflammatory and the portion of the hydrogen molecule will act as an antioxidant.  Hydrogen water is a bit pricy when bought in special store, so knowing where to buy this would really help you save money.

I drank 1 litter of Hydrogen water which I added up to my water consumption found in the Fitbit app.

At 4pm I have already hit two goals for today. Achieving more than 10,000 steps and moving more than 30 minutes. I am positive of hitting all my goals today. At 4:30, I was caught up rushing my way to Marco Polo to attend the launching of MTV Philippines.

Night time with Fitbit Blaze

Another favorite of mine about this Fitbit Blaze is it’s capability to change the interface to get along with your activity. And because I am going to a party and wearing a white shirt, I decided to pick the analog white face for the watch. You can access and change it once in a while just by accessing the Fitbit app. I wish they would create more options too which you can partner while you change your straps. The more options the more it would be flexible in different activities you do in a day.

From VJ to Buddy: MTVph presents the new MTV Buddy Jess Connelly. MTV Buddy Jess will be hosting the new program MTV Fuel which is a music, lifestyle and subculture-driven studio show. The pilot episode of MTV Fuel airs on September 21, Saturday at 8pm. Within the year MTV will also be opening the new show MTV Bud Hunt where they scout for the next MTV Buddy.

MTVph was a chill event that I just manage to eat and drink the whole night. That is adding up to my calorie count for the day (which you can actually set on your Fitbit App). I was happy when I receive a message, Fitbit tells me that I am an overachiever for today yay! Passing all my target goals for the day in no time!

The day isn’t over yet, for I still need to go to the office after the event. I was officially late, work starts at 5pm, while I arrive at the office at around 10:30pm (Huwag tularan!). That means I only got a few hours left to finish all my task for the day.

As the usual, I went home at 2 in the morning, and was already in bed before 3 am. It was a Friday, and luckily my day-off. I am hopeful to finally able to achieve a nice 8-hour sleep and hoping that I could be able to surpass again tomorrow my achievements for today.

Fitbit Blaze has been a good buddy for me the whole day, tracking every move I made and taking notes my achievements for the whole day. I guess if this has been a great help for me (who is not really too health conscious) the more it could be helpful to those who wants or in need to track their health habits. Having a Fitbit could help you easily track heart rate, monitor calorie burn, maintain intensity to make the most of workouts, optimize health with charts and graphs and many more. Add to that it’s stylish factor where you can wear it day or night time. Now you wouldn’t need to buy more than a handful of watches.
