Hukad sa Golden Cowrie Restaurant opens 1st Branch in Manila

Discovering a place to dine-in is something I love to do in the city. There are just a lot of places to visit and also food to try.  Quezon City is one of the place to be if your looking for a place to eat. Aside from accessibility,  new and unique restaurants are sprouting once in a while, Just like the one I visited recently, Hukad sa Golden Cowrie.

Opening it’s doors to Manila diners specifically in TriNoma Q.C., the Cebu-grown brand, Hukad sa Golden Cowrie, promises to provide a real feast experience to everyone.

Wondering what Hukad means? It means limitless serving of food which the restaurant gives to its diners. Thank God, unlimited rice was invented!  The serving size at Hukad are good for sharing, making every dining felt like a feast. And to what i’ve heard, they are using local ingredients like scallops fresh from Bantayan Island of Northern Cebu. And speaking of scallops, heres a Baked Bantayan Scallops … Yum!

More rice please …

Located at the first level of TriNoma Mall (I actually can’t remember what restaurant before were situated here.), the place got a homey feeling with wooden interiors, iconic puso-shaped lamps, and other details showcasing Cebuano craftmanship. But what excites me the most was the lechon belly displayed on their counter. I’m really is hungry, so lets run down the dishes I liked here at Hukad.

Because I love Filipino food, toping my lists are their Sinigang Baby Prawns; the taste was just right, sinigang never fails excite me. Next is of course the famous/best-selling Lechon Cebu, we all know this is good right!?

We also did try the Vegetarian Sisig, which I like but felt it was a bit salty, the Oxtail Humba, which is a good choice if your looking for something sweet, the Adobong Talong, which I know could be a top choice for vegetarian.

The Ngohiong, which is an ubod in lumpia wrapper, is something new to me. They also serve Bloodless Dinuguan, which is there version of dinuguan for veggie lovers.Take note, this is a vegetarian dish, meaning there is no blood or pork in this dish. They mainly uses beans and tofu in creating Bloodless Dinuguan. Quite tricky right? But still … I opted not to taste it.

For our dessert, they let us tastes the Ube Halaya Crisp ala Mode, which felt like eating ube ice cream with crunchy flakes and the Budbud Turon, which is a fried suman dip in creamy sweet sauce.
