How to pick a perfect Running Shoes?

It is said that running is one of the cheapest sport that you can do. You can just go outside and start it or you can even kick it up a notch by trying to run in late hours in your town. But if you’re really into making it a career, investing in some apparels, equipment’s and running shoes is a must. And with hundreds of choices in the market, sometimes picking the right one could be a pain in the ass, especially when we talk about the running shoes.

I may not be a regular runner, but I could say I’ve tried a handful of running shoes – The expensive ones and the cheaper ones. (Check our my previous runs – ColorRun Manila Run United)

And if price is inevitable, I personally ask my self a few questions before slashing cash in my pocket.

  • Is the Design good? – This is the first reason you would want to buy the shoes – the design. Having a very catchy and complimenting color combination that can be easily partnered with different looks is very important. I particularly get attracted to reds, yellows and greens, I find blue and black a bit safe. While white could suffer if you’re a messy runner. When we talk about the design, I recently came across with Saucony’s Hurricane ISO2, this shoes previously won the prestigious Editor’s Choice Awards in the Runner’s World 2016 Spring Shoe guide. Just look at this baby.

  • Is it Comfortable? – After picking the right design, next is to try and test it. Feel it if it would give you the comfort you would be need. Some stores got a real treadmill where you can try to run with the shoes. While some got an option to include a soft cushioning underneath.
  • Does it have a helpful Technology? – This could be a bit technical but having a distinct technology feature added to the shoe you are about to purchase is something of an advantage. This might require you to do a research (technology which are mostly unnoticeable) but what I love the most is discovery of a very useful feature without compromising the design. Saucony’s Everun Continuous Cushioning for example is such a game changer in the shoe industry. This technology delivers two key benefits; Lower Peak Pressure and Absorbs impact.

Saucony’s Everun Continous Cushioning

The development of Everun was to deliver a continuous cushioning experience to runners, combining smoother landings in the heel with reduced in the forefoot.

Lower Peak Pressure – Everun’s revolutionary Topsole construction process positions a 3mm layer of Saucony’s revolutionary EVERUN foam material closer to the foot, directly under the footbed, instead of embedding it in the midsole below a layer of rigid cement like other regular shoes. Thus construction process distributes propulsion force over more area, reducing uncomfortable local peak pressures while delivering a dramatically more lively and responsive ride.

Absorbs impact – The EVERUN landing zone and heel insert provide remarkable impact protection, maintaining cushioning properties three times longer than standard EVA’s while returning 83% of the energy absorbed, according the to research in the Saucony Human Performance and Innovation Lab.

Aside from the three factors, additional information that can help you which brand or running shoes to buy could include its popularity, awards, track record as well as years of serving and creating a defendable shoes. You can also ask running experts or enthusiast which shoe serves them the most, just like the person I’ve asked – Matteo Guidicelli.
