Things to know by First time Skaters at SM Skating Rink

I am no expert but if you plan to try Ice Skating at SM Skating Rink, well better read, you might probably need to know this.

SM Skating Rink

It was an easy Saturday afternoon, when we decided to try and experience skating at SM Skating Rink in SM Megamall. It was my 2nd time to try it, and I guess I got the advantage among us four. By the way I was with the clingers, Ruth, Earth and John.

Earth and Ruth are a bit uneasy about to try it for the first time, but good thing everyone is eager to do it.

We originally plan to use the Gift Certificates that I have that was given from an event I attend long time ago. Unfortunately, I overlooked that it can only be used on weekdays. Too Bad! But we are there already, good thing, SM Skating Rink also accepts Sodexho Gift Certificates! Yey, Tuloy ang ligaya!

SM SKATING RINK SKATING RATES (SM MOA/SM Megamall)

  • Unlimited Skating (Weekdays/Weekends/Holidays) Php 390.00
  • Locker Rental – Php 50.00
  • Companion Pass – Php 100.00
  • Assist Coach (Coaching per 30 minutes) – Php 150.00
  • Basic Figure Skating Lesson (6 Sessions, 30 minutes per session) – Php 3,600.00

For beginners I felt the price is a bit high. Specially for us who just wanted to try it. As a first timer, I am very sure that we will not be able to keep up with the kids and stay at the rink for more than an hour.

After passing through the gate, we headed at the corner to figure out our shoe sizes.

Can you guess who owns the feet?

Then we went at the locker area. We were thinking to just leave the things at one corner but unfortunately it is prohibited to do so. The locker is a bit small for big bags and items so we decided to rent another one.

After getting our skates, its time to rock and roll.

With Earth, Ruth, Rodel and John

Standing straight was already a challenge, what more for sliding. I think Ruth and Earth felt that we are making a fool out of ourselves trying hard to skate. I personally know a little and know how to slide so I tried to assist them but teaching is a bit difficult in my part.

Nga-nga pa!!!

This is how we do it.

Yes Ruth? May dumaan bang gwapo?

Napagod na si Ruth hahaha!

Earth – “Oh look no hands … ”

After a few rounds (not even getting at the other side) and photos, we quit.

Things to know before you skate at SM Skating Rink

  1. Do not bring to much things when you plan to skate. If ever you’ll be shopping as well, better to shop after you enjoyed skating. Locker rooms can cut a big slash to your money. Or maybe assigned a person who can tend to your things instead.
  2. Bring  a long and thick socks. It is important to have one. You don’t want blisters in your feet right? If ever you forgotten to wear or bring one, don’t you worry they are also selling socks for the price of Php 50.00.
  3. If you will not get a instructor, better bring someone who know how to skate. You’ll just be wasting money, if you will just stand there at one corner and do nothing till you finally felt you had enough.

In the first place you are there to have fun and skate right?

SM Skating Rink is located at SM Megamall 4th level of Mega Fashion Hall.

Until our next discovery in the City!
