‘Filipinize’ the World – The Francis Magalona Clothing Company Story

✪ Started in year 2005, Francis Magalona Clothing Company was one of the first patriotic brands established here in the Philippines.

I got a chance to meet the owners of the brand, friends Carlo Maniquiz, Itoy Villajin, Willy Velasquez with the late Francis Magalona form as the founders of 3 Stars and a Sun

With OrangeMagazineTV , Sir. Itoy and Sir. Willy at their office.

According to Carlo, the idea of putting-up the brand came up with the suggestion of Francis Magalona, who in that time was wearing a foreign brand, to why not create a local brand instead of supporting foreign company. It was just timely that on the same year, Francis Magalona was already pushing for the “makabayan” campaign thru his music.

Carlo, who was also a graphic artist working on a different brand did some experiment using the icon in the Philippine Flag (3 stars and a Sun) and came out with an initial design that started to be popular first to our fellow kababayans abroad.

Just like any other businesses, Francis Magalona Clothing Company (FMCC) started very small. Sir Itoy added, there was a time where they sell clothes just by bringing a van in Francis Magalona’s gig and open’s it just right after francis’ on stage-performance, and people are starting to go out of the show.

From Shirts, they now expanded to a full clothing line from pants, polo, jackets even accessories like caps and bags.

Also every design they realease have a limited volume, thus loyal buyers usually line-up just to have the newly released design. FMCC are also very visible through supporting different local and foreign artist as well as other athletes who are also inline with their advocacy.

Filipinize the world – is the vision of FMCC, Instilling patriotism and aiming for every Filipinos to be respected and recognise around the globe.
