The Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) is a government agency under the office of the President that you could possibly encounter if ever you would be planning to be immigrant to another country. CFO’s major responsibility includes the upholding the interests, rights and welfare of overseas Filipinos and strengthening their ties with the Philippines. The agency is also committed to effectively and efficiently deliver gender-responsive policies, programs and services for the well-being and empowerment of the community of Filipinos overseas.

If you applied for immigrant visa to the US, one necessary step you would need to do is to attend a seminar at the CFO. There are four major services that CFO is offering, these are:

  1. PRE-DEPARTURE ORIENTATION SEMINAR (PDOS) –  for an Immigrant Visa holder who needs to register and take the PDOS or Peer Counselling session
  2. GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING PROGRAM (GCP) – for a Spouse/Partner of a foreign national or former Filipino citizen who needs to register and undergo the GCP
  3. J1 VISA – EXCHANGE VISITOR PROGRAM (EVP) – for someone who is going to the United States to participate in the Exchange Visitor Program under a J1 visa
  4. COUNTRY FAMILIARIZATION SEMINAR (CFS) FOR AU PAIRS – for individual who is going to Europe as an Au Pair Program participant

Coming from North Manila

Via LRT

If you are coming from North of Quezon City

  1. Ride the LRT via Munoz (Php 30) and go down at Quirino Station
  2. At Quirino Station, your ride options are; Taxi, Grab, or Tricycle (for there are no Jeep or busses passing by the CFO building). Ride the tricycle located in front of McDonalds (I do not know if its a legit terminal but its an option you can try), pay Php 35 per head.

If you are coming from South bound

  1. Ride the LRT via Baclaran and go down at Quirino Station
  2. At Quirino Station, your ride options are; Taxi, Grab, or Tricycle (for there are no Jeep or busses passing by the CFO building). Ride the tricycle located in front of McDonalds (I do not know if its a legit terminal but its an option you can try), pay Php 35 per head.

From Cubao

  1. Ride MRT line 2 heading to Divisoria
  2. Go down at Recto and transfer to LRT line heading to Baclaran
  3. Ride the LRT and go down at Quirino Station
  4. At Quirino Station, your ride options are; Taxi, Grab, or Tricycle (for there are no Jeep or busses passing by the CFO building). Ride the tricycle located in front of McDonalds (I do not know if its a legit terminal but its an option you can try), pay Php 35 per head.

By the way, Quirino Station to CFO Manila is around 900 meters away, it is actually walkable but if your schedule falls on a hot weather, better to take a ride. Bringing your own car isn’t really advisable for there are only a few parking spaces in the area.
