I ate Poop in a Toilet Bowl and I love it! (Modern Toilet Restaurant)

Modern Toilet Restaurant

As soon as 12mn struck that night, our door bell rang and Ruth insinuated me to open the door. She once again setup a surprise celebration. It wasn’t that fancy but I really appreciated the thought of checking in the hotel restaurant, sourcing out and collaborating with the hotel staff just to have wine and chocolates on that night. It was sweet.

It was our last day in Hyatt Hotel Taipei so we decided to just enjoy the hotel amenities on the remaining hours of our stay. We were planning a lot on that day but end up running out of time once again. Maybe we were just always lazy on things or the hotel itself made us to.

I would definitely miss this room, but it is time to leave. As we ride the taxi on our way to Ximending, I felt an urge of excitement again. I do not know what to expect on that area for I wasn’t really able to research about it. I guess that made me more excited.

When we arrive at Ximending, we head straight the hotel passing by a very busy street. Our hotel, amba Ximending Hotel is just right in the middle of where’s the happenings are happening!

After settling down and touring around our new hotel, we decided to have our late lunch at Modern Toilet Restaurant which is just a block away from our hotel.

Modern Toilet Restaurant is a unique bathroom-themed restaurant chain, based in Taiwan, with several branches throughout Asia. Everything in the 2,800-square-foot (260 m2) restaurant is based on items from a bathroom. Actually, the name itself tells it all.

There were a lot of people when we first visited the restaurant so we decided to wait for our queue. Actually, there are a lot of enticing restaurants and food stalls in our area but still we decided to visit this restaurant even after reading a few not so good reviews about it.

I guess the experience of sitting down in a table with food serve in a toilet bowl is what all the guest are really looking forward too.

So we waited. And when it was our turn, I ordered some Ground Pork with rice while Ruth had Pork Curry rice. Most of the items are priced at NT$250 and up! Our meal was presented in a toilet bowl. We were seating in a toilet bowl and the sink in the wash room is also a toilet bowl. It was a fun environment, one can really go crazy with all the bathroom inspired stuff around the resraurant. But for those who got a very sensitive stomach, I guess this could be a different story.

I love the idea of the restaurant, from the design, setup and food presentation. The branding is really spot on!

But asking me how was the food? Well it was just okay, nothing too phenomenal. The one I ate was something that my mom can prepare at home. The meal was a bit pricy, but I guess it was just what I expected for a destination restaurant like the Modern Toilet Restaurant. Our food came out a bit late, so thats some flaws the restaurant need to work out. I think the Filipinos dining next to ours waited for a long time as well before their desserts arrived.

Nevertheless, a visit at this place is still worth it. Take lots of photos and be crazy with your food on a toilet bowl. After all, it is a different story if you do that at home.

After lunch, we decided to do one more tourist spot near our place. Have you heard about Bopilao Old Street?

To be continued . . .
