Sa FERN-C, tiwala ako na KAYA KO!

It is a well-known fact that our body cannot produce the much-needed Vitamin C. Vitamin C (also known as ascorbic acid) is mostly found in vegetables and fruits. Taking it helps improve the body’s immune system and maintains the connective tissues on our body that includes bones, blood vessels and even skin.

People who don’t like eating fruits and vegetables sometimes lack the necessary Vitamin C needed by the body, thus comes the supplements. Vitamin C supplements come in different forms and can be taken by mouth or by injections. But even though taking Vitamin C is safe, not all variants are suitable to everybody.

Continue reading and will tell you more about this.

My battle against acid reflux

Acidic Person wearing Memo (3 of 5)

I can’t remember the first time I’ve learned that I was suffering from acid reflux. It was too sudden and the doctors told me that the cause might be from unhealthy eating habits and/or from the stress I’m experiencing at the office.

It was too hard for me especially when it attacks at night having a hard time breathing doing an incomplete yawning (imagine yourself gasping for air but wasn’t getting enough). Most of the time you will find me feeling bloated or having excessive burping, even I didn’t ate anything.

Acid reflux happens if your stomach is producing more than enough acid that goes all the way up to the esophagus, which may cause difficulty in breathing and burning sensation chest pain. If acid reflux happens more than twice a week, you have acid reflux disease, also known as gastro esophageal reflux disease or GERD.

Coffee is my another trigger. Matigas lang ulo ko 🙂

It is a hard situation especially when the doctor told me that I needed to veer away from acidic foods, which literally means almost all types of food.

Aside from that I also learned that there are certain food triggers that varies in every individual. Mine was fruit juices and acidic fruits like lemons, dalandan, calamansi, apples and the likes. I was told to reduce or eliminate the intake of those kinds of fruits and drinks.

But the fact is, aside from those being my favorite fruits, these are also the fruits that are high with Vitamin C. And it was all taken away from me.

I was able to eventually minimize the acid reflux attack by learning to eat less per meal and eat more than a number of times for a day. I sometimes have a biscuit in my pocket just to be ready in times that I need it. And for the Vitamin C intake, I was lucky enough to learn about the other variants of Vitamin C that is suitable for acidic people like me. Here comes Sodium Ascorbate.

Sodium Ascorbate
