Meet Soban K-Town Grill, the brainchild of the collaboration between Mr. Sung Rah, Sariwon Korean Barbecue’s award winning restaurateur from Seoul and the Happyfoods Group (You know Jollibee right?) behind Sariwon Philippines. Soban K-Town Grill is the place where one can grill pork (samgyupsal) and chicken (dak galbi) barbecue, marinated in six mind-blowing flavors, explore a line-up of scrumptious K-tacos (Korean tacos) and Korritos (Korean burritos), and enjoy such delectable dishes in a hip restaurant ambiance that can easily become the new neighbourhood joint.

With Mr. Sung Rah

I was one to lucky person to be able to taste their food on their launch held before the first day of their regular operation. The restaurant is easy to locate and is placed on a very visible area on the second floor of Eastwood Mall. With a well-lighted ambiance, wood and metal fixtures plus a nice combination of word, art, and shades of black and white, the restaurant is definitely inviting. And I actually like how they make the smoke tubes an art pieces.

Before the heavy feast started, we were able to do some icebreakers. All the guest where invited to join the popular Korean game called “Kong Kong Chil Ppang” which means “007 phang!” it was concentration game wherein each should be able to respond quickly by saying the words “Kong Kong Chil Ppang” one by one, without breaking the chain. Luckily I was one of the winner for this challenge! I won an apron!

Of course, I was given an alternative drink for I don’t drink alcohol. #teehee

The second game was called a Taco Relay, where in each of the team member would will contribute and do a relay in creating a taco. Afterwards it was presented to Mr. Sung that acts as the judge of the relay. The fastest and the most desirable Taco, wins – which my team won of course.

Now lets start satisfying our tummy.

Soban K-Town’s menu reflects its culinary vision in providing quality, yet affordable food by weaving traditional Korean ingredients and techniques with American comfort food, dashed with the Mexican street food culture.

Tacos + French Fries + Kimchi = Soban! See the equation?

We first started with the 6-Flavor Samgyupsal Set, that’s 540 grams of grilled pork belly goodness! The house specialty comes in classic original, fruity, chili bean flavors while the soy garlic, doenjang or Korean miso, and wine flavors are subject to change depending on the season. I personally enjoyed the chili bean and soy garlic flavors!

The Samgyupsal set is good for 3-4 persons and server with unlimited rice, salad, bone marrow soup and egg roll appetizers for Php 1,420. You can also do an upgrade to the signature Kimchi fried rice by adding Ph 15.00
