UPD Student bagged this years 29th DPC Visual Arts Competition Grand Prize

UP Diliman Student Jean Cheryl Tagyamon bagged this years Grand Prize for the 29th DPC Visual Arts Competition with her entry entitled “Sa may Kayanunan.” Bringing home a whooping PHP 100k, a special trophy designed by sculptor Impy Pilapil, and a Canon EOS 700 D digital camera. In addition, her school received a donation worth P40,0000 – in cash or in kind – for its visual arts program from DPC and PLDT, plus a Canon PIXMA printer.

Sa may Kayanunan

The second place was awarded for Mar B. De Vera of Polytechnic University of the Philippines with his entry “Granpa Meets the DSLR“. While Raymond Chirstopher Paredes’ “Fortress of History” of De La Salle College of Saint Benilde won the 3rd place.

The top 50 entries was also given certification at the awarding ceremony held at SM Megamall on March 24, 2015. Coming from different universities all around the Philippines, the photo entries consists of elements that bridges the past and the present.

Some students are lucky enough to have 2 to 3 entries in the competition. Most elements use as entries includes typewritters vs computers, Coloring Pens vs. Digital Art, Grandparents vs. Kids, Old Camera vs. Digital Camera, Kalesa vs. Mrt and many more.

University of Sto. Tomas came to have the most number of qualified entries with 84 entries with 11 of whom have become a finalist this year. On the Top 50 finalist, Charlene Del Valle’s entry “Sa Bukid ni Lola” bagged the People’s Choice Award.

29th DPC Visual Arts Competition Grand Prize Winner will be featured on covers of major telephone directories—PLDT White Pages and DPC Yellow Pages—all over the Philippines.
