DPC and PLDT launch the 29th Visual Arts Competition

I grew up seeing the visually attractive covers of DPC popularly known as Yellow pages by the many. Back them, artist creatively visualize their entry thought canvas. Now, coping up with the technology, the 29th Visual Arts Competition has employed Digital Photography as its medium of entry.

29th Visual Arts Competition: “Past meets Present”

On it’s 29th year, Directories Philippines Corporation (DPC) and the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) launched their annual Visual Arts Competition (VAC 29) with a theme “Past meets Present”.

Guests from the academe and social media along with VAC29 partner institutions – the Department of Tourism; Canon Marketing Philippines, official imaging and printing partner; and SM Supermalls, official venue partner were on the launch at the 4th floor Annex, SM City North Edsa.

Ms. Julieta Tañeca (PLDT) reminisces the years where they first launch this project. Nowadays people tend to be attached with gadgets; we spend the day living with it but use it also in documenting. This year’s theme bridges the past and the present.

Students, 15-24 years of age and currently enrolled in any local school, are once again invited to join the contest.

Cash prizes, handsome glass trophies, cameras and computer printers are at stake. The winning photograph will be featured on covers of major telephone directories—PLDT White Pages and DPC Yellow Pages—all over the Philippines.

The grand prize winner will take home P100,000 in cash, a special trophy designed by sculptor Impy Pilapil, and a Canon EOS 700 D digital camera. In addition, his or her school will receive a donation worth P40,0000 – in cash or in kind – for its visual arts program from DPC and PLDT, plus a Canon PIXMA printer. The next two major winners and their respective schools will receive similar prizes.

Heres how you can join at 29th DPC-PLDT VISUAL ARTS COMPETITION (VAC 29).
