5 Reasons why ‘Just Thai’ is simply not just Thai! (Just Thai-Burgos Circle)

Spring Roll (Php 260)

✪ Most Thai restaurants do say, “Oh you don’t need to go to Thailand just to taste the best thai iced Tea” or maybe “We got the best Pad Thai ever in Manila” or could be “You don’t need to spend so much just to dine in and have a taste of authentic thai cuisine.”

Well, we do have our own opinion or should I say sentiments when it comes to a lot of things including, food. All I can say, dining experience and the joy of taking in food offerings are really subjective. One could be extremely satisfied and the other could be not.

I had a chance to visit one of the fast growing thai resto-chain here in the Philippines – Just Thai, who currently have two branches located in Molato in Alabang and another at Burgos Circle in BGC. As to what I’m hearing, they are planning to expand in the near future to cater to more people not just here in manila but also in other provinces.

Knowing that I’m a Spicy-Food lover, I took on the challenge of trying out some of the food they could offer. We came in at Just Thai a bit late in the evening, the setting and the mood inside could probably somehow perfect for an intimate dinner date or a layback setting you could probably want to stay the whole night and just take coffee right after eating.

Food prices are on the average ranging from Php 250 to less than Php 500 per serving. Checking on their menu, i think the most expensive is priced at Php 430 which is the “Ghaeng Phet” or Beef in Red Curry.

The table were overflown with food and I was so full and satisfied at the end of the dinner. Closing the meal with a perfect thai dessert that are not just satisfying to taste but as well as pleasing to see.

Khao Niaow Ma Muang or Sweet and Fresh mango slices over sticky rice, then smothered with coconut sauce (Php 260)

This dessert already set my thoughts of coming back to this restaurant, definitely! But aside from that I listed down some of my observation and reasons why for me “Just thai” is not simply just Thai.

1. Hearty Meal – aside from incorporating greens on most of the dishes, I find that each servings are somehow big for 2 and enough for 3.  Most of the meal servings are for sharing so it would probably best to dine in here with companion or in groups.

2. Flexibility – Definitely Authentic Thai food! They even import  in Thailand most of the ingredients they would be needing for cooking. But whats good here is their flexibility to adapt to what Filipino customers wanted.  Just don’t forget to inform them. Thai food has been known for having a spicy-flavory kick, Just thai could actually adjust the spiciness level to what you like.

3. Service – All i can say, we were accommodated and well assisted to whatever we needed. Good thing for We were accommodated staff are fast,s ervice is good, well assisted, easy to

4. Food – now for the food! I listed down some of my favourite in the bunch!

Tom Yum (Php 190)

Let’s start with the soup, Tom Yum, could list down to one of my favourites here. Its a hot and sour thai soup with basic broth made of stock and fresh ingredients imported in Thailand. The taste was actually close to “Pinoy Sinigang”, It got loads of mushrooms and big shrimps which I actually love. The flavour have the right sour taste that aren’t burn the throat upon sipping.

Spring Roll (Php 260)

Poh Piah Tod or simply Thai Spring Rolls is crispy and crunchy. It’s really good to start the thai meal, it has pork, glass noodles, and carrots inside covered with crunchy wrap partnered with sweet and spicy dip.

Bagoong Rice (Php 250)

Khao Krok Kapi or Bagoong Rice is presentably arrange with the mixtures on the side. Bagoong Fried Rice is a friend rice with shrimp paste, sweet pork and green mangoes. I like it a bit more spicy, i find it more exciting to eat with that taste.

Pad Thai (Php 280)

Pad Thai here at just thai didn’t fail to impress me. the noodles were cooked just right and the flavour is very authentic.

Mixed Seafood with Basil

Most favourite of all! the Pad Gaprow Talay or Mixed Seafood with Basil was just perfect! It got all the seafoods that I want, with spicy curry sauce.

5. Filipino by heart – as to how I describe it above, Just Thai is simply not just thai but still Filipino by heart! The love of the Filipino owners for Thai cuisine’s have brought Just Thai into existence and adapted it to the taste of the growing numbers of Thai Cuisine fans here in the Philippines. It’s authenticity, followings and its Filipino characters could probably make it something unique as far as I could think.

Here are some of the other foods we have shared for that night.
